The problem that I have is that Boudreau is convinced that he's top 4 material NOW, and has stated that opinion explicitly. I don't think that it's difficult to argue that, at this stage of his career, he should not be playing top 4 minutes on a team looking to contend for the cup.Burghnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-33400991949648790842009-09-09T18:42:21.017-04:002009-09-09T18:42:21.017-04:00I have certainly heard some Schultz bashing, but I...I have certainly heard some Schultz bashing, but I really don't know where it comes from. He's more of a poke-check guy (like Alzner), but rarely let's usually plays just fine. I'd happily take him as a second (or worst case third) pairing guy, to go with an offensive leaning partner.Normnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-71483359995137767862009-09-09T18:25:38.194-04:002009-09-09T18:25:38.194-04:00It's worth noting that those exits came with S...It's worth noting that those exits came with Schultz on the shelf with injuries. The Peerlesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10293195514553989436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-76943211738285168892009-09-09T17:23:27.544-04:002009-09-09T17:23:27.544-04:00Schultz is durable because he doesn't hit anyt...Schultz is durable because he doesn't hit anything, and everything else skates around him. I have long stated that he puzzles me and infuriates me, ok I am not his biggest fan.

But let's keep discussing rationally...let's face it, the majority of caps fans can agree on two points. 1. Schultz sucks 2. Nylander sucks, take that away from us and the world might end as we know it!Puddin_an_Seminnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-40918151892735916092009-09-09T07:40:23.894-04:002009-09-09T07:40:23.894-04:00You bring it as always sir. Yes, he had made mistakes. While there are weaknesses with the Plus/Minus Stat, the fact that he was 2nd in that department among the D-men(after Green) says that he must be doing something right.

It was so bad that people were actually rejoicing when he broke a finger this past November.

Given that he did so well against the Pens in the regular season, it would have actually helped to have his services against Malkin.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-4244174393990216372009-09-08T20:10:25.209-04:002009-09-08T20:10:25.209-04:00Watching Schultz bottle up Malkin beautifully in t...Watching Schultz bottle up Malkin beautifully in the 08-09 regular season series against the Penguins will give you a glimpse of the kind of defenseman Schultz has the potential to mature into.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06876745026662409263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14971098.post-87354118341329247272009-09-08T18:14:32.632-04:002009-09-08T18:14:32.632-04:00Um, wow, I didnt realize there was a reasonable Ca...Um, wow, I didnt realize there was a reasonable Caps fan left when it came to Schultz. Thank You.

I dont understand the hate for Jeff Schultz on the message boards and other places from Caps fans, I dont understand it at all. He's big, that doesnt mean he is mean and physical, it just means he is big. I watched and watched all last season to see this horrific joke of a hockey player that Caps fans complain about and never saw it. He's young, so there were always mistakes, but not consistently bad play, quite the opposite.

He is a good young defenseman who is maturing at a reasonable rate, not the rocket quick rate of an Ovechkin, or Green, just steady improvement. He's big and uses his size to choke out passing lanes with his reach, poke check, and guide players to the boards away from the front of the net. And he has a very cool under pressure outlet pass.

The hate is ridiculous, thanks for this assessment.Briannoreply@blogger.com
