Zherdev?... Zher-don't!

Seems there are a few outlets (like the one run by that boob named after a former Flyer) who think every Russian hockey player in search of a contract is in the sights of the Washington Capitals. There are more than a few Capitals fans who think along those lines, too.

Which brings us to Nikolai Zherdev... Russian, hockey player, in search of a contract.

We consulted the nether realm as to whether this was a good idea and came upon some clues when searching for anagrams for "Nikolai Zherdev"...

"Haze Drivel Oink"... OK, he plays in a haze, the descriptions of his talent are just so much drivel (given his performance), and whatever contract he gets is going to be a real "oinker."

"Elk Head In Vizor"... that might be the reason for his occasional numbskull level of play.

"He Zero Diva Link"... might be a stretch, but maybe it's an indicator that he's a bit too much to have to deal with?

"Hi, Dark Evil Zone"... ok, now that's scary.

...can you tell it's August?

I have nothing personal against Zherdev but he doesn't really fit the Caps' needs at the moment. He's slightly more productive than Flash or Laich for a much greater cost.

However, sometimes it seem to me that criticisms of Russian players are very stereotypical. Typical criticism of Russian player: "(fill in the blank) is a soft player who sometimes takes nights/shifts/weeks/games off. He is an underachiever with talent."

Russians are not the only underachievers in the NHL. They just get credit for it, for some reason.

I agree that i dont have anything against Zherdev and that he doesnt fit the minute crunching his offessive fueled offensive defense of the Washington Capitals, being a season ticket holder id rather see some of our bears get called up over signing a new defensemen, Karl Alzner would be a great addition to the Capitals Blueline and South Carolina Stingray Defensivemen Collins (62 in Red) did an amazing job on the blue line last year for the Caps including Tyler Slaon, Bryan Helmer, and Sasha Pokolok. ZherDONT!!!!!!!!! LETS GO CAPS FRED HALL
