For the Washington Capitals and Their Fans, the Signs Are There

Signs.  They are everywhere, if you choose to read them…

• On this date in 1893, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled unanimously in Nix v. Hedden that the tomato is a “vegetable,” not a “fruit.”  Sign…”sometimes strange things happen in the face of logic.”
  
• On this date in 1954, Bill Haley and the Comets released “Rock Around the Clock,” the first rock and roll record to reach the number one spot on the Billboard charts.  Sign… It’s a day to “rock,” and only one hockey team “rocks.”
  
• On this date in 1962, Marvel Comics published the first issue of “The Incredible Hulk.”  Sign… the Caps have a power forward who is a rather “incredible hulk” himself.
  
• On this date in 1966, Cleveland recorded a low temperature of 25 degrees, the lowest ever recorded in that city in May.  Sign… hell froze over on this date, so the Caps will find a way, against any and all odds, and in spite of the history of these teams in the postseason, to take this series to a Game 7.

Don’t say there weren’t signs.
