Peace in our time

"Peace is its own reward."

-- Mohandas K. Gandhi

"We make war that we may live in peace."

-- Aristotle

"Peace is not the absence of war; it is a virtue; a state of mind; a disposition for benevolence; confidence; and justice."

-- Baruch Spinoza

"Better than a thousand hollow words,Is one word that brings peace."

-- Buddha

"I can't wait 'til he says something about me."

-- Alex Ovechkin, anticipating Don Cherry's reaction to his celebration after scoring his 50th goal of the season.

"Ovechkin -- Alex, is that his name?"

-- Don Cherry, prefacing his lecture on hockey decorum on "Coach's Corner" last evening.

"They're not laughing with you...they're laughing at you, Alex."

-- Cherry

Say Don, how'd you like that nice Canadian boy, Rod Brind'Amour (Ottawa) planting Ovechkin's head into the end boards last night?

They're not laughing at you Don, they're laughing near you.

I guess we're done with this...

Bruce Boudreau may like Cherry but I still think he's a total fraud and jerk.

Yes, please, let us be done with this! Not the incident itself, but the often-pointless debate afterwards has detracted long enough from my hockey-viewing pleasure. Including the obnoxious Milbury (sp?) creature who had to add his incoherent, sanctimonious rant to the chorus earlier today.

If I might add, it's also time to get beyond the Cherry blight. We won't be needing any more of that one, thanks.

Oh, I wanted more. I wanted this battle to last forever, at least until Cherry is booted off the air. Other than the "Alex - is that his name?" insult he needed to sling, he came across as almost magnanimous. Called Ovie a 'class guy' more than once. It was way too civil for my liking.
