Just Sayin'...

The Penguins are 0-3 on Detroit ice.

Evgeni Malkin is 1-1-2, minus-3 in three games there.

Sidney Crosby doesn't have a point there and is minus-3 there.

Bill Guerin -- a late season pickup to provide some veteran leadership -- doesn't have a point there and is minus-2.

Chris Kunitz -- ditto -- doesn't have a point there and is minus-2.

Sergei Gonchar?... nope, no points at the Joe.

Jordan Staal?... nope.

Marc-Andre Fleury is 0-3 there with a GAA of 4.33 and a save percentage of .857 there.

This final might go to a Game 7, and Pittsburgh only has to win one game on Detroit ice if things get that far.

But it wouldn't be the way to bet.

They haven't looked good in Detroit, that's for sure.

But the Penguins did win in Detroit 7-6 in the regular season (which means nothing at this point) and they won a Game 5 in Triple OT last year to extend their season. So it can be done.

One thing at a time though...It's going to take a great game to even worry about Game 7.

No possibility of regression toward the mean for the Pens? How sad (for them). In a way, I hope there is a game 7 because I would like to see the Wings carry the Cup around home ice in front of their own fans, rather than the grieving Pittsburgers. Much more fun when people are happy!

I would discredit that theory and tend to believe it has mainly do with the excellence that Detroit displays. The way the play as a five man unit is amazing and they have the defensive posture and aptitude that would frustrate any team.
