If you read nothing else today, Caps fans...

Read this, and the link in that entry to this column.

The Caps are not a team that merely needs to stay the course -- there are elements that do need adjustment (even in their "style").  But for those of the TRADE GREEN, TRADE SEMIN, FIRE BOUDREAU school, well... step back, take a breath, and think about it.  Is it a matter of personnel (who do you get back for Green or Semin, and who takes over behind the bench)?

Or is it a matter of time?

Nothing is assured in these things, but oh, how eerie are the similarities between an underachiever long ago and another one from last week.

hmm, who do you get back. Well let's say we decide to trade Green. What's the matter with a Green and Flash to the Oilers for a Cogliano-Whitney situation?

How about a straight up trade Marty St Louis for Semin. Remember, you've got Semin signed for just one more year. You think we would get some grit, team play and scoring there? If McNabb's got something left in the tank then surely Marty does.

I've got two coaching ideas for you. A Gold Medal coach in Gustafsson or a tough as nails approach of Dale Hunter.

But but but...
if we gave up the Mass Hysteria, would we *really* be Caps' fans?

I dunno why everyone is advocating moving a 40 goal scorer and an extremely productive YOUNG dman. Why do we lose faith so quick?

Myabe cause the 40 goal scorer is too much of a liability and has more negative than positive (in my opinion). And, probably cause 40 goals becamse 0 goals when it mattered most. Caps don't need Semin's offense as much as they need someone else's DEFENSE. The whole "Caps are going to prove that offense wins championships" was BS. Look at the Habs. If the Caps did trade Semin, they would make up for the 40 goals he scored. We all know they will be in the Playoffs for a long time, so Semin's 40 goals are not needed here.
