How Green Is This Team?

Olaf Kolzig leaves the club having played 711 regular season games. What that leaves is a club with no player on it who has played as many as 250 games -- just over three regular seasons ' worth -- with the Capitals. Here is how they break down among selected players under contract or who might be expected to return...

* entire NHL career with Washington
# two separate tours with club

And Matt Bradley, if re-signed, would clock in at 205 regular season games.

So, is 200 the magic number of games for a young team to gell? Obviously, it isn't that simple, but I couldn't help but notice how close some of the young, important guys were with their number of played games on the Capitals.

The Caps are indeed a young team now but they certainly gained a boatload of confidence and expereince this past season. As you say oh what a ride!
